Each School of Medicine unit has liaisons who are responsible for maintaining their own document management system for their unit's policies.
When a new policy has been drafted and approved by a unit, the unit liaison submits a request for approval to the Policy Manager indicating that a policy has been approved by the unit and is ready for publication.
New policy drafts may be submitted to the Policy Manager via email as a Word file or using Sharepoint, Box, an Excel spreadsheet, or in whatever form the liaison prefers.
The Policy Manager edits the policy and either returns it back to the liaison if changes need to be made/approved or, if not, publishes it to the IUSM Policy Portal.
All IUSM policies are accessed via IU authentication. Should a policy need to be made available to the public (i.e., non-authenticated), the IU General Counsel’s office provides further approval prior to publishing.
